Derrick completed his HNC in Construction and the Built Environment (Civil Engineering) at Lincoln College in 2021.
He explained, “My time at the College was a baptism of fire. As a mature student, I had the support of the staff, especially from the Construction Department, which helped me upskill for the job market in the construction industry.”
Reflecting on his experience, Derrick shared that his favourite aspect was “the other students and staff from various age ranges, who were very knowledgeable and truly helped me succeed.” He also told us, “My time at the College has invigorated my purpose and given me a renewed sense of contribution to the community, particularly through my volunteer work at Lincoln County Hospital during COVID.”
